Holiday Magic Aboard the Titanic

The night sky in Pigeon Forge will soon be ablaze in colorful bursts of light and fantasy during the Titanic Museum Attraction’s second annual fireworks extravaganza honoring the lives and legacies of the ship’s passengers, crew and rescuers. It will be the largest fireworks event of the year on the Smoky Mountain Parkway, and we look forward to celebrating a joyful evening with our community friends and neighbors.” announces John Joslyn, expedition leader of the first private exploration dive to Titanic and co-owner of the Titanic Museum Attraction.
“Since the Titanic Museum Attraction’s grand opening in 2010, fireworks have been seen as glowing tributes to the 2,208 passengers and crew who sailed on Titanic,” said Joslyn, “Our Thanksgiving fireworks display also serves to usher in a new holiday Christmas season of hope and promise for all of us,” adds Joslyn. Besides fireworks are cool no matter what time of year it is.

All people young and old believe in Princess,Princes and stories of chivalry, bravery and romance.  Now imagine meeting a beautiful Princess aboard a world-famous ship that has been decked out its finest holiday finery. You no longer have to imagine. The world famous Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is pleased to announce that this year the Titanic ‘Fantasy’ Princess will be making her debut!

If you have never been to see the Titanic, I will tell you from personal experience to go! I got the chance earlier this year when I was invited to see the world unveiling of the renowned Hartley Violin. Wallace Hartley was the bandmaster aboard the HMS Titanic and he along with other men played until they died. His violin was rescued and returned his fiancee Maria Robinson which she held on to her death. After her death it was donated by her sister to the local Salvation Army(And we have all seen the episodes of Antiques Roadshow where the little old lady says “I brought this about 30 years ago at the local Salvation Army and I only paid $10.00 for it” and she finds out it’s worth like $25,000!). You can read all about my visit on that famous day here http://mmommymusings.com/2013/05/23/pigeon-forge-to-most-people-it-brings-to/

The Titanic Fantasy Princess will be there a wonderful photo with her on the following dates and time.( And yes the museum is open on Thanksgiving Day. If you decide to visit on Friday December 6th, stay for Gatlinburg’s 38th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade. Gatlinburg is about a 15 minute drive from Pigeon Forge.)

“Our Fantasy Princess will be here to greet little girls and boys and help make their holiday dreams come true,” announced Joslyn, . “She will embody the holiday season’s magic and mystery shared by children of 1912 and today.”

The Titanic ‘Fantasy’ Princess is this year’s beautiful addition to the annual Titanic Christmas Winter Wonderland, which features thousands of holiday lights, Edwardian-style decorations, costumed merry-makers and a Gift Shoppe brimming with one-of-a-kind selections. Also available is a magical photo op with the princess herself.

“Every day we remember and honor the men, women and children who sailed on Titanic, but this is especially so during the holidays. You’ll truly experience what a Titanic Christmas voyage might have been like 101 years ago,” says Joslyn.

Of course you can’t have a Winter Wonderland without snow can you? of course not and starting on Thanksgiving evening, Thursday, November 28th, it will snow – yes, REAL snow – at the Titanic. The snow is part of the museum’s “Christmas in a Winter Wonderland,” which is dedicated to honoring and celebrating the lives of the 2,208 passengers and crew of the Titanic.

Each night, Thanksgiving and every Saturday in December, the Titanic will produce real, falling snow off the bow of the ship. AND…the entire ship inside and out will be aglow with Christmas lights and decorations.
“Everything about our Christmas in a Winter Wonderland Celebration is aimed at giving our visitors and their families a unique, memorable holiday experience. A memory that will last forever – and isn’t that what Christmas is all about?”
