A Twist on Old El Paso Manwich Style

I want to start by telling my readers that I am BzzAgent.  What is BzzAgent?  I get to try stuff for free from different companies and tell people about the stuff I’ve gotten. It’s fun and I have gotten to try some awesome stuff that normally I wouldn’t have tried.

Recently they sent me a kit with Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff® Soft Flour Tortillas and various cooking sauces from Old El Paso. My wonderful husband came up with a great way to use the tortillas- sloppy joes! Everyone likes sloppy joes but they well are sloppy hence their name. So I decided to take my husband’s idea and run with it.

As with all great chefs, a SousChef de Cuisine is necessary.  My SousChef de Cuisine for the evening was our oldest son, Koenig. He is the young man in the photos.

First let’s meet the players in tonight’s drama. Of course we have lean ground beef (70/30), you could use ground turkey if that is what you have. He’s joined by his buddies Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff® Soft Flour Tortillas, Manwich sauce and some shredded Colby-Jack cheese.

For all you trivia buffs, Manwich was first introduced to the public in 1969 by Hunt and Con-Agra foods. Old El Paso was brought in 1968 by Pet Foods from Mountain Pass Canning Company.

While the Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff® Soft Flour Tortillas were warming in the oven, I browned my ground beef up. I used two pounds of ground beef since as most of you know we have a larger than average family.

A cooking hint for when you brown ground beef for sloppy joes, spaghetti, lasagna or the like- drain your ground beef like you usually do but run it under hot water in your kitchen faucet stirring while you do this. I can’t remember where I read this but trust me when I say the difference in your dishes will amazing. This all works great of you’re browning beef for freezing-no icky greasy meat. Just be sure to clean your sink and run the hot water for a few minutes to help clear the drains.

So the Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff® Soft Flour Tortillas are all warmed up and ready to be stuffed.

After I placed a Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff® Soft Flour Tortillas on on everyone’s plate I then sprinkle each serving with some Colby-Jack cheese.

I served these with barbecue and wavy potato chips-a quick, easy and kid friendly meal.

Was it a success? Judging by the happy faces of the children and empty plates I would say “Yes”.
